Bhagamandala

Bhagandeshwara Temple the imperial temple dedicated to Lord Shiva as Bhagandeshwara, to experience its magnificent layout and traditional architecture. Talacauvery / Talakaveri

A Prominent Religious spot the Talakavery is situated at a distance of 44 km from Madikeri and has a square tank called Cauvery Kundike or Brahma Kundike that can be visited River Kaveri Originates from this Kundike as a perennial spring and then disappears underground. The river emerges again at Nagathirtha and perennially flows further to unite with the other holy rivers at Triveni Sangam.Adjoining the kundike is a small temple dedicated to goddess Kaveriamma. The Birthplace of River Kaveri is located in the Brahmagiri hill and offers magical experience with the most dramatic visual spectacles surrounding the place.

Abbey Falls

Located 7km from Madikeri, Abbey falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Coorg. Spice plantations, coffee estates, rich green plains and the Kaveri river posing as waterfalls falling over huge rocks, Abbey Falls is a hike to admire for a long time. If you visit right after the monsoons in November and December, this spot will be your favourite one to visit in Coorg.

Madikeri Fort

Madikeri Fort also called Mercara Fort was first founded by Mudduraja in the second half of the 17th century. He also built a palace inside the fort. It was eventually rebuilt and restructured in granite by Tipu Sultan who named the site as Jaffarabad. Mercara Fort is among the many forts, build or rebuild by Tipu Sultan. In 1790, Dodda Vira Rajendra took control of the fort. The British who added to the fort in 1834. The palace was renovated by Linga Rajendra II in 1812-1814. In the north-east corner at the entrance are two life size masonry elephants and a church is present in the south-east corner.The museum displays weaponry used during the era of Tipu Sultan. On display are various artifacts that could give you an insight into what elapsed during the time of Muddu Raja and Tipu Sultan.

The Omkareshwara Temple

is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated in the town of Madikeri in Coorg, Karnataka. The speciality of the temple is that its construction reflects a mix of Gothic and Islamic styles. It is a popular religious destination of Coorg.The Auspicious place located in Madikeri and dedicated to Lord Shiva has the sacred Linga installed near the entrance door. Built by Linga Rajendra II in 1820, the impressive temple houses a water tank with a mantapa in the centre. The temple reveals a grand combination of Islamic and Gothic architecture with a grand dome and four turrets.

Dubare Elephant Camp

Dubare Elephant camp offers an ethical experience of meeting the wonderful animal in their own natural environment. Harangi Dam

The Harangi Reservoir is located near Hudgur village, Somwarpet taluk in Kodagu district in the Indian state of Karnataka.The reservoir is formed by a masonry dam built across the river Harangi, a tributary of the Kaveri.The dam is located about 9 km away from the heart of Kushalnagar town.The Harangi originates in the Pushpagiri Hills of Western Ghats in Kodagu, Karnataka.Heavy rainfall from the south-west monsoon is the source of water in the catchment area of Harangi river which is about 717 km2.The length of the Harangi from its origin to the confluence with the Kaveri river is 50 km.The Harangi joins the Kaveri near Kudige in Somwarpet taluk.

Golden Temple / Tibetan Monastery – Bylakuppe

Nagarhole National Park

Nagarhole National Park, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a wildlife reserve in the South Indian state of Karnataka. Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the park is backed by the Brahamagiri Mountains and filled with sandalwood and teak trees. The Kabini River winds through jungle landscapes, home to tigers, Asian elephants and a variety of birds. Nearby, the Irupu Falls cascade down tree-lined rocks.it is much easier to spot as many animals as possible than other times. The natural surrounding is also quite rewarding around the wildlife sanctuary.

Mallalli Falls, the stunning milky white waterfalls, lies in the northern region of Kodagu district in the south-western Indian State of Karnataka. These falls lie 26 kilometres away from the town of Somwarpet, at the foot of the Pushpagiri Hills. The falls originate where River Kumaradhara takes a deep plunge of over 1000 metres and then follow a natural route that ends into the Arabian Sea. These gorgeous waterfalls are sure to take your breath away. The heavenly scenery with lush green forests and the clear white waters of River Kumaradhara falling deep from the point of origin of the waterfall is a marvellous sight never to be missed.

Pushpagiri

Pushpagiri (Kumara Parvatha), at 1,712 metres (5,617 ft),is the highest peak in Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. It is located in the Somwarpet Taluk, 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Somwarpet in the northern part of Kodagu district on the border between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district and hassan districts. It is 4th highest peak of Karnataka. The Sanskrit name of the mountain is Puṣpagiri while its Prakrit form is Puphagiri, which is mentioned in the Nagarjunakond Second Apsidal Temple inscription.although this may refer to a different mountain to the north of Cuddapah, in Andhra Pradesh.

Nalknad Palace

Nalknad Palace or Nalkunadu,called Naalnaad Aremane in the local Kodava language, is a palace located in the Kodagu district of the Indian state of Karnataka.It is located near a village named Yavakapadi and was built between the years 1792 and 1794 AD. This palace was the last refuge of the last of the Haleri kings of Kodagu, Chikka Veerarajendra before he was deposed by the British.The Kannada film Shanti, which has only a single actor, was shot in the surroundings of the palace.Dodda Veerarajendra managed to recapture most of his forts, except Mercara, the capital. Instead, he made his base in a thickly forested area called Nalknad and launched his operations from there. Here at Nalknad, Dodda Virarajendra built himself the Nalknad Palace,a two-storeyed structure constructed in the style typical to its region.In 1793, he travelled to Cannanore to meet Sir Robert Abercromby and conclude a treaty with the British. After this agreement, Vira Rajendra became a steadfast ally of the British, in opposition to Tipu Sultan.

Chelavara Falls

Chelvara Falls is a natural waterfall formed by small stream, a tributary of Kaveri near Cheyyandane village which is on Virajpet – Talakaveri State Highway (SH 90) around 16 km from Virajpet, in the state of Karnataka, India.It is located on the way to Kabbe Holidays Homestay, and is near Thadiyandamol, the highest point in Kodagu. The falls is visible after walking a few meters into the forest from the place available for parking.One can easily get into dangerous waters and pulled in. It is approximately 100 feet deep. There are danger signs all over. Locals advise not getting into the water. About 20 people have died here.

The Kukke Subramanya Temple is located in the beautiful Western Ghats range of Karnataka. Overlooking the temple is the famous mountain of Kumara Parvatha, a popular hiking destination for trekkers from across South India. Kumara Parvatha forms a picture-perfect backdrop to the temple entrance and the Shesha Parvatha (a mountain shaped like a six-headed mythological serpent, adjacent to Kumara Parvatha) looks like a cobra with its open hood, as if protecting the temple shrine of Lord Subramanya.
