DUBARE: Dubare Elephant Camp organizes a special lecture by trained professionals, explaining the historical, biological and the ecological aspects of elephants in general and the Karnataks elephants in particular. Apart from these, there are many activities such as elephant grooming, feeding, rides and performances by elephants. In addition to the elephant camp, Dubare is also recommended for special glimpses of River Cauvery at its glorious best
CHIKKLI HOLE DAM: It makes for a great picnic spot and thus wonderful for family outing as well. View of the sunset from here is exceptionally captivating and mustn’t be missed if you are at the reservoir. It offers amazing photographic opportunities as well.As there are no shops near the reservoir, it is better to carry all basic amenities with you. The best time to visit the dam is during the month of June to March. The season of monsoon and winter is best not just because of the pleasant climate but also the dam has more water at this point of time.
HARANGI DAM: the Hudgur village near Kushalnagar, Harangi dam also makes for an interesting visit. The dam has been built across the tributary of River Cauvery and has a height of 47 meters and length of 846 meters. It is one of the popular picnic spot with mesmerising natural setting and relaxed atmosphere. Located at a distance of approximately 36 km from Madikeri, Harangi dam is the first Dam to have been built across River Cuavery.
KAVERINISARGADHAMA: Nisargadhama Forest, you will find a wide variety of things to do and see. Elephant ride is something that adults and kids both will enjoy. There is also a deer park and rabbit park that one can visit.The view of River Kaveri is also something that tourist must stop by and notice, capture in their cameras, and cherish forever. The view, especially from the hanging bridge is breathtaking.The water in the river here is quite shallow. Hence, if interested tourists can even cross the river on foot, letting its cold fresh water refresh them.
GOLDEN TEMPLE: The landscape around Bylakuppe is strewn with prayer flags, stupas and monasteries of the Sakya, Kagyu, Nyingmapa and the Yellow-Hat Gelugpa sects of Vajrayana Buddhism. As you weave past a sacred lake, the Namdroling Monastery, or Golden Temple, glints in the far distance. Every weekend, entire carloads of holidaying families flock to see the spectacular Golden Temple and its 40-foot-high statues of Padmasambhava, Buddha and Amitayus.
