Golden Temple Kushalnagar

At a distance of 34 km from Madikeri, 4.5 km from Kushalnagar, 7 km from Cauvery Nisargadhama & 87 km from Mysore, the Golden Temple or Namdroling Monastery is a beautiful Buddhist Monastery situated at Bylakuppe. Kaveri Nisargadhama Kushalnagar

Kaveri Nisargadhama is a beautiful island formed by river Kaveri and it is located 2 km off the State Highway from Kushalanagar.Kaveri Nisargadhama was established in 1989. Kaveri Nisargadhama is abundant with lush foliage, thick bamboo groves, teak, and rosewood. The sprawling 64-acre nature resort which is surrounded by river Kaveri includes a deer park, orchidarium, and elephant and boat rides.

Dubare Elephant Camp & River Rafting

At a distance of 29 km from Madikeri and 15 km from Kushalnagar, Dubare Elephant Camp is an elephant training center situated on the banks of the river Cauvery in the district of Kodagu, Karnataka. It is an important base for the Karnataka Forest Department’s elephants. Dubare elephant camp is a project undertaken by forest department and jungle lodges & resorts. It also offers river rafting facilities in River Cauvery.

Abbey Falls Madikeri

Abbey Falls (also spelled Abbi Falls and Abbe Falls) (Kannada: ಅಬ್ಬೆ ಜಲಪಾತ Abbe jalaphatha) is in Kodagu, in the Western Ghats in Karnataka. It is located 8 km from the Madikeri, 268 km from Bangalore and 122 km from Mysore.The river is part of the early reaches of the river Kaveri. Flow is much higher during the monsoon season.

Raja Seat Sunset Point

Raja’s Seat or the Seat of the King is a famous sunset point in Madikeri in the Coorg district of Karnataka. It was once the platform from which the kings of Kodagu used to enjoy glorious sunsets. The spot got its name as it was the favourite recreational place for the kings. Today it is a famous destination of Madikeri that is visited by tourists throughout the year.

Omkareshwara Temple

A Gothic and Islamic Style Hindu Temple situated in the heart of Madikeri Town, built in 1820 by Lingarajendra II (King of Kodagu), the temple dedicated to God Shiva. The Story of the temple is once King puts a Brahmin to death to fulfill his political dreams, and then the spirit of the Brahmin started to torture the king every day as became ‘Brahmarakshasa.’

Madikeri Fort

The fort is atop an elevated ground, crowning Madikeri with its imposing structure. The original mud fort was rebuilt in stone by Tipu Sultan. Two life-size elephants made of mortar, catch the eye of the visitor on entering the Fort. In the inner Fort, a temple of Virabhadra was removed by the British in 1855 and in its place built an Anglican Church. The Church, in Gothic style, with colour stained glasses has now been converted into a museum.

 Talacauvery

Talacauvery, the birthplace of the sacred river Cauvery, is located 44 km from Madikeri, on the slopes of Brahmagiri Hill. Besides being a pilgrimage center, Talacauvery is known for its natural beauty.On Tula Sankaramana day in the middle of October, thousands of pilgrims flock to the river’s birthplace to witness a sudden upsurge of water in a small pond, at a predetermined time.

 Bhagamandala

Bhagamandala is a pilgrimage place in Kodagu. It is situated on the river Kaveri in its upstream stretches. Bhagamandala is on the banks of the confluence of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannike and the sub terrain Sujyoti, popularly known as “Triveni Sangama”. It is a common practice for pilgrims to take a dip in the triveni sangama and perform rituals to their ancestors before proceeding to Talakaveri, the birthplace of Kaveri.

Harangi Dam

At a distance of 34 Kms from Madikeri & 10 Kms from Kushalnagar, Harangi Dam is built against a small stream, a tributary of river Cauvery at Hadgur village. The dam is 846 meters long with a height of 47 meters. The dam attracts large crowd during the monsoon season when the gates are opened and the water is released. It is one of the popular sightseeing places in Coorg.

 Iruppu Falls

The Irupu Falls (also Iruppu Falls) ಇರ್ಪು ಜಲಪಾತ are located in the Brahmagiri Range[1] in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India, bordering the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is a fresh water cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole. The Falls are also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls, the Lakshmana Tirtha River.

Nagarhole National Park

Nagarhole is a combination of two Kannada terms, ‘Nagara’ meaning ‘Cobra’ and ‘Hole’ meaning ‘River’. This National Park has been named after the river ‘Nagarhole’ which snakes through its rich tropical forests. Here, the legend and romance of Kabini is played out and revolves around the pristine river that forms an aqueous boundary with the Bandipur National Park. Take a boat ride down the river or hop into a van and explore the forests. The rich biodiversity will leave you in awe.
